ARTIST STATEMENT
The study of cultural anthropology and fine arts has spurred my interest in travel and the personal discovery of many of the peoples and environments in this world. I have a great thirst for knowledge through observation and first-hand experience.
I take notice. I witness. I transcribe the world around me through my art.
Since the beginning of time early peoples made marks on the walls and ceilings of cave dwellings in sacred places. They made small fetishes and drawings of people and animals, imbued them with meaning and magic to ensure a sense of power and control over the unknown.
Like then as today, the definition of art is elusive. Although art's expression has often transcended recognizable form, I continue to find the human body an important study for developing draftsmanship and an understanding of line, and hopefully for a glimpse into the human psyche.
